Julie's Buddhist name, Jikyo, meaning "Compassionate Teaching", was received during a Kikyoshiki (Confirmation ceremony) at the Los Angeles Hompa Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, in 2019. It serves as an aspirational compass while walking the path.
My current companions:
Academic Studies: Taking a momentary breath between completing the Jodo Shinshu Correspondence Course and starting at the Institute of Buddhist Studies. Hello, summer, my old friend!
Personal Reading: Revisiting Infinite Life: Awakening to Bliss Within following the passing of Robert A.F. Thurman.
Writing: Developing a year-end dharma talk while allowing several future reflections to slowly take shape.
Teaching: Refining my Intro class for early August.
More reflections and Dharma Offerings will be added over time.
